There are a host of reasons to start your own blog, such as giving advice, providing helpful tips and also simply an online collection of your thoughts. But your own full-time blog or project on the side, can result in something that speaks to people in any language: cash.
Other than product banners on your site, online advertising can materialize in many distinct forms. First things first, it’s worth checking out hosts such as 1&1, who can get you started on setting up your own domain for your blog.
Pay-per-click
This is a method of internet advertising, in which the website owner obtains a slice of revenue when an advert is clicked on their site. Provided that you have a blog with quality content that draws reasonable or high traffic, then advertisers and bloggers alike have a lot to gain by using pay-per-click. Sometimes known as PPC, products or services will be generally relevant to the blog and potential customer; therefore representing a great match for all parties concerned.
CPM advertising
Cost-per-mile (CPM) is useful method for advertising on your site, as a blogger can earn money for every 1,000 views, not just clicks. CPM is advantageous to many blogs which have readers that view the content, but aren’t necessarily interested in viewing other pages or adverts on the site.
Product reviews
Somewhat alike to PPC, teaming up with a company to review their products can result in you ensnaring free products, then earning a small percentage from when the link placed on your site is clicked. Again, depending on your traffic to the blog, some companies may contact you or you’ll have to reach out yourself. Similarly, all advertising means will essentially start and end with your blog providing great material that readers want to click through.

I find product reviews to be fun… you really never know what’s out there in internet land for sale. Sometimes I feel like Skymall is contacting me! (I was offered a birdhouse with my last name on it once… really not my style!). But hey, I will definitely take the Kindle!

Another good way to monetize your blog is through sponsored posts, but this can carry some risk with it.

It’s awesome that you can earn money doing things like this on the internet. I have a couple friends who are currently small time YouTubers. They make only a couple cents every few months, but it’s a start.

Although you will earn cash if you do all these things, however, you will have to spend paying in paid advertising as well. But these are all good investment for your blog to be able to gain audience.
