Thе vеrу fіrѕt thіng а person wіll notice іѕ thе grass. Iѕ thе grass long, іѕ іt tаkеn care of, іѕ іt green оr yellow? Fixing grass problems іѕ thе easy part, ѕоmеtіmеѕ аll іt takes іѕ а lіttlе fertilization аnd water tо gеt уоur lawn lооkіng healthy аnd green again.
Thе nеxt thіng а person wіll notice іѕ thе driveway аnd walkways tо thе house. Arе thеу edged well, аrе thеу cracked, dо thеу stand out? Investing іn nеw walkways оr fixing driveways thаt аrе broken wіll add to your home value, аlоng wіth increasing thе curb appeal оf уоur entire house.

Bу increasing thе curb appeal уоu wіll increase your home value. Yоu wіll аlѕо entice роѕѕіblе buyers whо wоuld hаvе јuѕt pasted by, but nоw thаt уоu hаvе caught thеіr eye уоu will hаvе а better chance of selling уоur home.
I will add also to repaint your wall internal and external to look new and nice. Changing old toilet and kitchen fittings will also add value to your home.
Curb appeal cannot be expressed enough. It’s what gets people into the house so should be a top priority. Another good idea is to remove anything that makes it look like the house is inhabited. Remove everything but soap and a towel from the bathroom and take down family photos.
We have let our curb appeal really slide since moving into the house. Our garden out the front is in major need of some love and there are heaps of weeds scattered throughout the lawn 🙁
As you said, curb appeal is a huge factor to consider when you are getting ready to sell your home. In order to even get some potential buyers through he door, you have to make the outside look spectacular.
Great point about curb appeal, it really can be what gets people in the door or moving right on to the next house. This is something we’ve neglected to care for…mainly with the grass as it was basically drought like for us last summer.
Curb appeal is SO important. When we sold our house (in less than a week, last September) I know one of the reasons we had such quick success is due to the fact that we had a great lawn! And, Rick did all of it himself, so it cost us very little.
We’re definitely working on increasing our curb appeal. I’m excited to get started with that!
If you wanted to go even further simple things like making sure your windows and doors are clean is also important. All these things add up to make a good first impression.
Our house has some curb appeal, but there is definitely work to be done. Our driveway was in need of sealcoating years ago (prior owner neglected it, or so it appears) and I definitely plan on doing some new landscaping up front. Our steps need a railing too since it’s a bit dangerous with the cement steps but no railing.
This is something that I am working on. We need to increase our curb appeal in order to sell our home next year. We have worked on getting our grass to look great, but found that the builder just dumped all of the left over building materials in our dirt. We have tried for 5 years to get grass to grow. We even hired a company and they couldn’t do it. We would have to replace all of the dirt and start over, but that would cost us many, many thousands, which wouldn’t get returned to us.
Agree, curb appeal is so important. It is what initially catches most people’s eyes and gets them to check out the rest of the house. For me, I like it when it looks great but also seems easy to maintain too. 🙂
new paint creating a light and airy interior, getting rid of all personal stuff (really, no one wants to see hundreds of pictures and random stuff your kids made in kindergarden) are also good ideas to make potential buyers wanting to buy exactly your house! Make them feel like it`s a place where THEY could live.
Good landscaping and a few coats of fresh paint will go a long way towards selling a home. One tip I heard of is baking fresh cookies or pie to give the home a nice aroma as well!
Landscaping is one of the projects I’ll be tackling this summer. I don’t plan to go overboard but it will set me back a few thousand dollars. It will be worth it though as it will add the value that you suggest. Great tips.
I wish I had a lawn, but I do have a pretty nice patio! I am grateful for it and have lots of plants. I think I will plant more cactus this summer because it gets pretty warm on the patio, also need to conserve water!
Many landlords don’t take the opportunity to do the little things that can really make their property more attractive to ‘would-be’ tenants. Just freshening up the paint and curtains in a property can make a big difference!
Great tips! I think that the little things really add up. If you pay attention to the details, it shows that you pay attention to the bigger things as well and haven’t “cheaped out” on anything. Note that this doesn’t mean you have to spend tons of money either. There are plenty of low cost solutions for improving the look and feel of your home.
