If there’s one word us money-conscious humans love to see, it’s “FREE”. If we see something that’s free, we can’t but help ourselves in grabbing it. It’s like we’ve giving “the man” the middle finger – we should be splashing out our hard-earned dollars for something, but instead we’re getting it for nothing. How d’you like that, corporate ghouls?
Now – think back to those Wile E. Coyote cartoons you saw as a child. See that sign saying “FREE BURD SEED” ? Do you see that plate of seed – underneath that large box held up by a twig attached to a piece of string that winds its way across the desert floor towards the rear of that large boulder. You hear that snickering from behind that boulder? You still want that FREE bird seed?
Most free trials are just like that. If you’re not as savvy as Road Runner, you sign up for something that’s initially free but then find out you’ve also signed up for six months of something you don’t even want for $99.99 a month. Yikes!
Having said that, there are some circumstances where a free trial really does make sense. Here we take a quick look at a couple of them.
Online Roulette
Check out YouTube for literally hundreds of online gambling strategies that proveyou can bash the bank at Roulette, Blackjack or Baccarat. The most popular is the Martingale, in which you just double the size of your last bet if you lose. If you’re playing Roulette, and you stick to betting on red all the time, surely black can’t come up more than three or four times in a row, can it? If you want to test any of these theories, or if you’ve studied the millions of betting combinations available on Roulette and you’ve come up with your own system, you’re going to want to test it for free before chucking your own cash into your idea. You can play Full Tilt Roulette for free, so use this to check to see if you have actually devised a bank-breaking system.
Gaming on the Internet
Remember the days when people who played computer games were called “nerds”, or even worse? Well, those days are long gone. These days gaming is not only accepted, it’s expected. You’re considered a little out of touch if you’ve no idea what KDR means, or if you think “Capture The Flag” is a board game for preschoolers. Online gaming can suck you in, and popular games such as World of Warcraft will suck the dollars from your account in the same way. If you want to see if you’ve the liking and self-discipline for gaming, try Steam, the online gaming solution available for all platforms. There are hundreds of games with Steam available on a free, demo basis.
Free to play (f2p) games are awesome! There are so many out now, that companies can make just as much or more. And, users can self select if they will pay for parades or go the free route.
You actually make it seem so easy wiith your presentation but I find this topic
to bbe really something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I’m
looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
