1. Accountants make good money
The money in the accounting profession is quite good. If you are working at a job with insufficient pay to meet your needs, you might want to compare how much money accountants make. There are many different types of accountants, so keep that in mind as you are doing your research. If you are seriously considering a career in accounting, you need to put some serious thought into what type of accounting you want to get into. You also need to consider the amount of time some accountants spend at work. There are some accountants who are able to do much of their work from home. However, various companies hire full-time accountants that work in an office all day. While the pay these positions offer may be appealing to you, the amount of office hours is something you will need to think about.
2. Accountants are always in demand
After you earn a diploma or certificate in accounting, you shouldn’t have trouble finding work. It is still a tough economy out there. This is why you should try to enter a career field where you will be able to find work easily after graduation. Luckily, there is a shortage of skilled accountants right now. In fact, projections show accounting jobs are expected to open between 2014 – 2024, with an above average growth rate of 11%. For example, you can choose to become a bookkeeper, accounts receivable clerk, accounting clerk or an audit and billing clerk, just to name a few of your career possibilities. If you try one profession and find out that it is not to your liking, you can get a job in a different area and see if that particular job is a better fit for you. You will certainly never get bored with all of the opportunities there are out there.
If people concerned about their financial well-being aren’t becoming accountants, then they certainly should be hiring them! I’m not talking about H&R Block either… a legitimate CPA or E.A. I hired a wonderful gentleman who is an Enrolled Agent (meaning he can represent his clients in court if necessary) and it has been a great experience. He charges more than average tax preparation services, but in the long run he has given me great value that was worth every penny.
Most of my high school classmates took up Accounting. What is great is that they are now rich and have cars of their own. I just wish I had taken Accounting as well.
My husband is an accounting graduate. I can really see how he manages his money, it’s totally different because I can see that he’s using “an approach” or strategy. Aside from this, it is easier for him to find a nice job.
I work in financial industry myself, although I am not an accountant. But having taken a few accounting classes helps me understand business better and it has helped me advance in my career quickly. Besides, thinking in numbers transfers over to my personal life and finances as well.
That’s good to know from the second tip that accountant are always on demand. I’m guessing they go through a lot of training doing bookkeeping tasks. Which is something I tried out before and wow, it sure was a challenge for me to have done that on a daily basis.

How i am loving accounting. bookkeeping activities now a days i am running a multi million air firm which is associated with different modules and working, i have recruit some new staff and joint venture with big names in the industry.
I’m having a hard time deciding what I should do in college. It seems like so many people go into accounting, that maybe it would be hard to find a job. But the thought of being able to work from home sounds really nice, since I have a hard time being away from my kids. Do most businesses hire their own accountants? Or do they hire a third party accounting service to manage their book keeping?
