Today is Sunday April 12, and it is Easter. My neighbors are having friends over for barbecues, the kids are playing together, and it’s like nothing is happening.
On the cute side, someone dropped some empty Easter eggs on our front step yesterday, asking us to hide them around our RV plot for the kids to hunt.
Some of the kids emptied the chocolates I left and I refilled the eggs for the next kids. The sun finally came out after a week of rain, so it looked like a normal day.
But you can’t be in denial that nothing is happening. The markets are in denial, companies are in denial, families are in denial, and it’s all going to explode in our faces eventually.
I am in denial sometimes. My reality is I am stuck in the US, the European Union is talking of keeping borders closed until September, so my summer trip won’t happen, and even if borders reopen, it is very unlikely I’d have my green card by then.
But for now, it is a sunny, relaxing day, and pretending everything is fine won’t hurt… Happy Easter!
