When we think of the month of MAY, the month of mothers automatically comes to mind. Our mothers are really important to us because they’re the one who gave us life and guided us all the way. I chatted with some of my friends from college and we agreed to have a pre-mother’s day celebration last Saturday.
Actually, 12 years after graduation, we decided to meet again, had lunch together and after having a very long chat, moved to a different place to chill and enjoy some cold beers. 🙂 It’s so nice talking with your old friends, about motherhood and how you handle some problems and happiness. The laughter that we had yesterday was really great; we also talked about our college day experiences.
This is a guest post from my VA Clarisse. Let me know if you would like to guest post on RFI.
We ended our get together at night, after we had our dinner while watching an acoustic band. I woke up very late on Mother’s Day and I told my daughter that we would buy a cake for her Nanay “grandmother”. As I’m checking my FB account, I can see the newsfeeds are flooding for Mother’s Day greetings, pictures and videos for their wonderful moms.
The best thing that I had received this day is my Hannah’s hugs and kisses. Her little arms hold me tight and she kept on saying “Happy Mother’s Day mama, I love you”. She was sad because she didn’t have any gift for me and I told my daughter, her love is more important than receiving gifts. After we went to church, we dropped by a cake store and picked a heart shaped chocolate cake, I also asked the staff to put a dedication on the cake. Some of my friends celebrated in fine restaurants, other preferred to cook a special viand and stay at home and some visited the cemetery for those moms who already passed away. I also prepared a special Filipino dish for my mom, this is also my own little way to thank her for everything she has done for us and for the never ending support she has given us.
Second Sunday, is the day for all the moms, as the whole world celebrated Mother’s Day, Google also give tributes to all the moms out there and they also have special page for Mother’s Day for gift ideas and some tips on how to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Also, if you want more tips and ideas on how to treat your mom or if you want to DIY for your mom’s gift, Pinterest is a good source for it. Being a mom is not an easy task, I never knew it until I became a mom. Sometimes you need to make sacrifices for your kids; you need to think about your children first before you think of yourself. I totally give a big respect for all the moms out there, whether you are a nurses, doctors, engineers, teachers, bloggers, new moms, stay-at-home-moms, single moms, and more.
I also salute for those who are stay-at-home dads, and take good care of your children. There was an instance that I watched an interview of a house dad, honestly, it’s unusual but I was really amazed when I watched his story and how he handled criticism because of his situation. Despite everything, the house dad never gave up and showed that he is a good dad compared to some other fathers who have a 9-5 office work.
If you still have a mom or a stay-at-home-dad, you should not waste a chance to give thanks to your mom and to show her how much you love her. A warm hug, kiss and saying “I love you” to your wonderful mom will mean a lot to them.
How about you? How did you celebrate Mother’s Day?

That is one of the coolest ways in celebrating Mother’s Day. Our celebration is that we ate out on that day and we gave gifts to our dear mother. I gave her a mug warmer and a laptop bag. Happy Mother’s Day.
